These guys had a bigger water 'leak' problem than me!

5 posts in this topic

During the Mexico round of the WRC, Ott Tanak had an off and landed in a lake, luckily the right way up.

Driver and co-driver escaped very quickly, which is understandable, but the car sank equally rapidly and stayed there for 9 hours before being recovered.

Cars can re-join the rally if they can be repaired in time and WRC service crews often perform minor miracles - and they did! The car was running again less than a day later, failed to start on the Saturday due to a water problem but competed and finished on Sunday.

I'm surpised that kind of thing doesn't happen more often. Such a big chance of error in rallying compared to F1 with its large run-off areas.

They did well to get it running again so quickly.

OMG, how scary is that. Thankfully thay got out quickly as that car filled up with water in the blink of an eye.
